ernesto.pees.on.tings is a living project by vincent ward exploring the idea of storytelling through the perspective of a domestic dog.
through an obsessive desire to document, it depicts what most people see and smell, mostly around the neighbourhood and urban areas of bulleke-bek, but rarely can pinpoint exactly where and what it is. small, low-down places, too dirty for even the shortest adults to interact with, are vital communication alleys for the domestic dogs of brunswick. these places are overlooked by most but are favourite draw cards for the four-legged mutts. information hotspots.
in the long covid lockdowns while most melbournians lived online, baked sourdough loaves and banana bread, vincent timidly took pictures of his dog urinating, and over time formed an unstoppable practice which continues to this day.
it is not controversial. it represents facts, stories and messages that us humans will never understand. it is not disgusting. it is not disrespectful. it is normal.
